Willow Creek Winery

West Cape May, New Jersey

July 2024

My family and I recently visited Willow Creek Winery & Farm. The estate has 50+ acres filled with fields of vines, gardens, artwork, farmland, and woodland. The winery has an undertone of Alice in Wonderland, which can be seen in the art and decor. The Tasting Room is a rustic hall that can seat up to 300 people and is open daily, year-round.

My family and I ordered the Spinach and Artichoke Dip (served with tortilla chips) for $15.75, and I ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich (served on a brioche roll with sriracha mayo, lettuce, pickles, fries, and coleslaw) for $17.00. My dad ordered the Smash Burger (two black angus beef patties, smashed with onions, topped with cheddar cheese and house mac sauce on butter-toasted brioche, pickles on top) for $18.00. My mom ordered the Honey-Mango Pulled Pork (16-hour smoked honey-mango BBQ on a pretzel roll with fries and coleslaw) for $17.00. My sister ordered the Curry Chicken Salad Sandwich (chicken, celery, onion & red grapes served on romaine in a folded grilled pita) for $17.00. Everything was delicious!

I ordered the Dry White Flight (2020 Malvasia Blanca, Wilde Cock White, and 2019 Malvasia Bianca Reserve) for $27.00. My mom ordered the Sangria Flight (White Sangria, Red Sangria, and Mixed Sangria) for $21.00. The 2020 Malvasia Blanca is estate-grown and stainless steel-fermented, crisp, and has notes of grapefruit and lemon. A bottle retails for $46.75. The Wilde Cock White is a light, vibrant Gewurztraminer with aromas of tangerine, grapefruit, and roses. A bottle retails for $31.50. The 2019 Malvasia Bianca Reserve is estate-grown and stainless steel-fermented, medium-bodied, and has notes of citrus and apricot. A bottle retails for $51.75. We also tried the Willow Whip Float (seasonal, wine-infused non-dairy soft serve over sangria) for $16.75. The flavor of the day during our visit was creamsicle, which is not my favorite flavor, but it was a delightful treat. Aside from always being curious about this winery, the thing that got my family and I out to finally visit was the allure of the Willow Whip Float. My family and I are big fans of Disney’s Dole Whip so we figured that this would be perfect for us. We enjoyed our wines and our sweet treat infused float.

Some takeaways for me were that the prices were higher than the Cape May Winery and Willow Creek does not have a mocktail menu like the Cape May Winery does, to my sister’s disappointment. The location of the Tasting Room was also confusing for first time goers as you would think it would be the first big building you see at the front of the property, but it is far far far in the back of the property, it is far enough to make you think that you are going the wrong way. When we finally guessed that we were in the correct location, there was not a lot of parking. On the positive side, the food and drinks were great. The promptness of the service was average and the staff we interacted with were curt. However, I think that this winery is worth another visit for the food and various events they host.
