VEGABOND Kitchen & Tap House

Atlantic City, New Jersey

June 2021

My best friend Cora and I recently visited VEGABOND Kitchen & Tap House located in Atlantic City. This was my first visit while Cora has visited here many times before. My main reason for wanting to eat at VEGABOND was because it was featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. (I am a huge fan of Guy Fieri and his various shows!)

Cora and I ate outside in the Beer Garden at VEGABOND and we loved the open air atmosphere. We went for their Happy Hour which includes half off starters and $5 wines/Deep Eddy drinks.

For my starters, I ordered Tequila Shrimp Bangers (crispy jumbo shrimp, tossed in tequila banger sauce, over a bed of mixed greens, and drizzled with raspberry vinaigrette) and Brussel Sprouts (garlic parmesan and sweet chili sauce). The Tequila Shrimp Bangers were originally priced at $13.00 but with the Happy Hour deal I got them for $6.50 and the Brussel Sprouts were originally priced at $12.00 but I got them for $6.00. The Tequila Shrimp Bangers were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and they were Guy Fieri approved. They were also Sarah approved because they were DELICIOUS! The shrimp had a crunchy outside, tender inside, and I was obsessed with the sauce. I would rate this meal as a 10/10. The Brussel Sprouts had a burnt taste but I felt healthy eating them. I only made it through a handful of sprouts because I learned that I do not care for Brussel sprouts at all. I would rate this meal as a 4/10 as they were just not for me but I think that if you enjoy Brussel sprouts the rating would be much higher as the seasoning was good.

For Cora's starters, she ordered Extreme Nachos (warm tortilla chips with black beans, jalapenos, Pico de Gallo, melted jack cheese, sour cream, queso fresco, avocado cream, and pulled pork) and Crabby Mac-N-Cheese (fresh crab meat mixed in a blend of sharp American and garlic parmesan on cavatappi pasta). The Extreme Nachos were originally priced at $14.00 but with the Happy Hour deal she got them for $7.00 and the Crabby Mac-N-Cheese was originally priced at $15.00 but she got them for $7.50. The nachos had the perfect amount of chip to topping ratio which led to getting a little bit of everything in each bite. Also she said that the Pico de Gallo was very fresh. Cora gave the nachos a 9/10 rating. She said that the crabby mac-n-cheese had an amazing top layer of melted cheese and a good amount of crab in the cheese sauce. She enjoyed the nice presentation of the crabby mac-n-cheese which was in a small cast iron skillet and she rated it as a 10/10.

For drinks I had Tito's Blueberry Lemonade made with Deep Eddy Vodka, blueberry puree, and lemonade for the $5 Happy Hour deal. This drink was sweet and tasty, I would rate it an 8/10 and I would order it again! I also ordered a Lemon Drop Martini made with Deep Eddy, triple sec, and sour mix for the $5 Happy Hour deal. This drink was sour and tart but I enjoyed it. I would give this drink a 7/10 but I would probably not order it again.

For Cora's drinks, she had Spiked Palmer made with Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka, lemonade, and muddled lemons for $5 Happy Hour deal. She rated this drink as a 6/10. She also had the Lemon Drop Martini and her thoughts on it were the same as mine.

Overall, I had a fantastic first time at VEGABOND. I had good company, drinks, food, and service. I would defiantly recommend checking out this local eatery if you are ever in town! If it is good for Guy (Fieri), it is good for me!
