Good morning from the majestic Animal Kingdom! We rope dropped our early entrance which was set for 7:30 AM. However, by the time we made it over to Avatar Flight of Passage, the wait was already an hour long and I was not about to wait that long as we had Lightning Lane passes for later that day. Instead, Avery and I made our way around the park to DinoLand U.S.A.. DinoLand, may she rest in peace, has an extra special place in my heart as it is where I worked during my Disney College Program. DinoLand U.S.A. was our main reason for taking this trip to Disney as I had to see it one last time before they tore it down and rethemed the area. Unfortunately, we got to the area before much was open but we did ride TriceraTop Spin. After, we went on DINOSAUR and I sure am going to miss that ride, even though I still get scared. We didn’t linger in DinoLand simply because we had too much to do and that’s okay, I think it was for the best so I wouldn’t get too sad. We continued on over to Africa where we got snacks at the Harambe Fruit Market (Fresh Strawberry Fruit Cup for $3.99 and a Mickey-shaped pretzel for $7.99). We then proceeded onto the Kilimanjaro Safaris with our Lightning Lane passes. We had a great morning out on the safari where nearly all of the animals were active. We walked the Gorilla Falls trail after and again saw nearly all active animals. After we saw our favorite show, The Festival of the Lion King. This show has it all; singing, dancing, acrobatics, and fire! It is an exhilarating show that is a must see! From this show we went over to It’s Tough to be a Bug!, another Disney classic that is soon to be reimagined, rip. Our last ride at DAK of the day was our Lightning Lane for Avatar Flight of Passage which is a beautiful and thrilling ride. Before we left DAK, we got Baked Macaroni & Cheese from Eight Spoon Cafe. I ordered mine with pulled pork for $6.79 and Avery got his plain for $4.99. This is when we pulled an audible and instead of heading over to Magic Kingdom as planned, we went to Epcot. We took the bus from AK to Disney’s Beach Club Resort and walked over to Epcot to get lunch in the World Showcase. We decided on Japan and ate at Katsura Grill. I ordered a spicy roll for $12.00, and Avery ordered Chicken Teriyaki for $14.99. We also ordered two cups of water, Violet Sake for $12.50, and Mousse Cake for $6.00. My sushi was good; there were 8 pieces, the violet sake was too sweet for my liking, and the mousse cake did not seem like mousse and was a hard no from us. After lunch, we took the Skyliner back to our resort to rest before spending our evening in Magic Kingdom.
We got to Disney’s Magic Kingdom by the late afternoon and had Lightning Lane passes for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, where Avery annihilated me, and Space Mountain. This was my first time on Space Mountain and to say that I was scared is an understatement. I made it, somehow, I still am not sure how. I think the thing that got me through it was knowing that I had a much scarier ride to conquer later, TRON. Before I had to face TRON, we went on Tomorrowland Speedway, just in time too before a massive downpour. Thankfully, we avoided the majority of the downpour by going over to the Laugh Floor. This is another one of my favorite shows, especially since my dad was once That Guy. Once we finished at Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, the downpour was over, and it was time for our Lightning Lane for TRON Lightcycle/Run. I did not like this ride. I did not feel safe the first time the seat locked, so much so that I made them redo it as I truly do not believe that I was properly in. After the adjustment, it still felt off but better than it originally was. The ride was short but not short enough for someone who is not keen on rides. After this ride, I was in desperate need of ice cream to comfort me. So, we got ice cream at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies. I ordered a Chocolate and Vanilla Swirl Soft-serve in a cup for $5.79 and Avery ordered a Vanilla Shake for $8.29.
We then headed over to Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe and we each ordered our own Chicken Strips (4 Strips) with fries for $10.99. We scarfed down our food and then headed over to catch the Happily Ever After Firework Show. From the fireworks, we used our last Lightning Lane at The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Then we went on Under the Sea - Journey with the Little Mermaid, Jungle Cruise, and Haunted Mansion before closing the park down.
That was one busy but magical day, I am tired just rewriting our adventures, so I am sure you are tired of reading them. Enjoy some of the photos we took along our way and I look forward to sharing our next day of magic with you real soon!
*We are laser focused on Space Rangers.
