The Hills are Alive

September 18, 2023

I started my day off by fueling myself with breakfast (hard boiled eggs, a peach, a kiwi, and orange juice) before going on a walking tour of Salzburg, Austria. Our walking tour was an hour and a half long and we saw things such as Mozart's birthplace and scenes from the Sound of Music. After our tour, our tour guide gave us each a Mozart truffle which was tasty. Salzburg was very beautiful and interesting!

After the tour, we took our bus to the next activity, Keltenblitz Alpine Slide in Hallein. The mountain was 772 m (2,532 ft) tall, and the toboggan run was 2.2 km (1.3 miles) long. The chair lift up was terrifying, but the slide down was less scary than I thought it would be. The views were well worth the momentary fear. After our thrilling adventure, we were served wine back at our bus.

Back in Salzburg, we spent the latter half of the day shopping. I ate lunch with Melody at Augustiner Bier (a beer hall) where I had z'upfte henn mit kartoffel-ecken und dip (pulled chicken with potatoes) for 10.90 Euro and of course I had a mug of beer as well. This beer hall was cash only. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was authentic and fun. I am so glad that we were able to experience a meal in a beer hall and shop through the numerous stores. We ended our night off by having girl dinner in the hotel lobby with an array of cheese, chocolate, crackers, fruit, meat, and wine.
