Sunrise to Sunset - 08.13.19

Updated: Aug 24, 2020

This morning I woke up at 3:30 AM to get ready to leave by 4:00 AM for a sunrise hike. It took about 45 minutes by tuk tuk to get to our desired location. The hike had 600 stairs/steps to climb. It was exhausting but amazing. I took many breaks to catch my breath as the altitude increased. It was a dark hike up but we were sitting on large rocks at the top of the mountain waiting to watch the sunrise. Unfortunately, it was far too cloudy for us to see the sunrise but the views were still spectacular. There was a temple at the top of the mountain and the area was home to hundreds of monkeys. I was able to watch them interact naturally which was a very cool experience. Once we got back to the hotel, I had two hard boiled eggs for breakfast. After my breakfast, I took a long and much needed nap. It lasted for about two and a half hours. I had a granola bar and pretzels as my quick lunch and by 1PM I left for the market with a few others. I got a bracelet, earrings, ring, and an anklet. We spent a good amount of time at the market shopping around and bargaining. When we got back to the hotel, we organized our suitcases and headed down to the hotel bar. At the bar I had two vodka cranberries, the bartender handed me one glass of vodka and one glass of cranberry juice. For being DIY drinks, they were not too bad. We stayed and chatted with some friends from the trip until Gabs and I got hungry. We went back to our room to order room service. We both got chicken nuggets. The chicken nuggets tasted good but they did me dirty. I woke up at 3 AM to vomit. I did not feel well at all. At one point during my vomiting I went back into the room to grab a water bottle to rinse my mouth out and I barely made it back to the toilet. Why did I go and grab a water bottle instead of using the sink water? In India the tap water is not as clean as the tap water in the United States, meaning if I drank it I would probably get sick from it since my body is not used to it. The entire trip I exclusively drank from bottled water, even when brushing my teeth. When I finally finished throwing up, I felt better but still not at my best.
