I recently took a short, sweet, and magical trip with my boyfriend, Avery, to Walt Disney World. We flew down to Orlando, Florida from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Sunday, January 5, 2025. We wanted to get the most out of this trip, so we flew out at 5:30 AM, meaning that we had to be up much earlier to allow time for driving to the airport and getting through security. Our airport experience went smoothly and before we knew it, our Mears Connect bus was arriving at our resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Unfortunately, our room was not quite ready yet since we had arrived so early, however, we were able to drop our luggage off with the resort and enjoy our day by taking the Skyliner over to Disney’s Boardwalk. At the Boardwalk, we had brunch at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop. Avery ordered the Angus Beef Burger with Fries for $23.00 and a Vanilla Shake for $8.75. I ordered the Cheddar-Bacon-Ranch Chicken Sandwich with Tots for $21.00. Our food was so good that we reflected upon it multiple times during our trip and after we returned back home. Once we were stuffed, we strolled around the Boardwalk, popping into various shops. When we finished up at the Boardwalk, we headed back to our resort and waited for our room to be ready by hanging out in hammocks on the beach. Once our room was ready, we settled in before heading over to Disney Springs. At Springs, Avery and I got drinks at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar (Hovito Mojito and Reggie’s Revenge for $16.00 each) and Dockside Margaritas (watermelon margaritas for $18.50 each). We walked and shopped around Springs with our drinks. We went to Gideon’s Bakehouse where we got cookies, including two cookies of the month, The Peanut Butter Chocolate Swirl. It was so delicious! Finally, we went to Wine Bar George - A Restaurant & Bar for food, where I ordered their House-made Hummus for $14.00, and Avery had their Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites for $16.00. Since it was a wine bar, I had to try one of the wines from their impressive selection and I went with Broadside, a Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles, California for $10.00. Lastly, we ended the night at Frontera Cocina, a recommendation from a friend, and had Cheese Quesadillas with Chicken and La Paloma.
The highlight of the day for Avery was the Angus Beef Burger from Beaches & Cream Soda Shop. My highlight was Wine Bar George where I had great wine and hummus.
This was a busy but fun first day and I cannot wait to share the rest of our experiences with you. Stay tuned for more magical adventures!
