Sailing, Sailing Home - 05.26.23 - 05.28.23

Today was our last full day sailing, I started my day off by running a mile around the outdoor track. We then ate breakfast where I had cantaloupe, hard boiled eggs, grapefruit, waffles, and watermelon. We followed breakfast with back-to-back trivia events, Harry Potter (which we did pretty well at) and "Who in the World Am I". After that my family and I went to the grand finale art auction where I won another bottle of champagne (peep my "Ready, Set, Sail!" post about winning my first bottle during the beginning days of this cruise). We then went to the main pool area to watch the adult international belly flop competition. After many laughs and the crowning of one proud winner, we went for lunch. I ate fried chicken, Guinness beef stew, mac and cheese, salad, chocolate cake, a kiwi, and an oatmeal raisin cookie. We watched and participated in the game show battle of the sexes (the women won, yay!) and crazy quest. For dinner, I had Mediterranean tapas medley (a spread of hummus, refreshing tzatziki, classic Greek salad, and soft pita bread), grilled Mediterranean steak (prepared to order with garlic potato wedges, tender roasted vegetables, and a classic chimichurri sauce), and a chocolate cherry tart (vanilla tart shell with rich dark chocolate ganache, and cherry filling, sweet whipped cream, and lemon zest). Everything tasted amazing! Overall, we had a fun last day enjoying as many different events as possible.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end... The next morning, we ate our last meal on the ship, breakfast, where I had my usual cantaloupe, grapefruit, hard boiled eggs, waffles, and watermelon. We disembarked and headed to our hotel, Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suite Tampa - Rocky Point Island. The hotel was nice and had good views as it was on the water. We quickly prepared for a short beach trip to Fort De Soto where we spent a little more time enjoying our extended beach vacation. We grabbed a quick lunch at Wendy's before getting ready to eat dinner at our abuelo's casa. He cooked us baked squash, tomatoes, and zucchini, rice, and tender beef. We also enjoyed snacking on cherries and grapes during our visit. It was great to see him as we have not had the opportunity to see him in the past few years due to COVID. After our visit we got ice cream at The Original Twistee Treat Tampa where I ordered a regular sundae with vanilla ice cream with a cherry, hot fudge, and peanuts.

The following day, we ate breakfast at our hotel before heading to the airport for our flight home. I had a biscuit with strawberry jam, an egg white and veggie omelet, pancakes, and passion orange guava juice.
