Perrydell Farm and Dairy

York, Pennsylvania

May 2018, February 2019, & September 2019

Perrydell Farm is another hidden gem of York. It was one of my favorite places to go to get away from the stressors of life when I was in college. I have been many times with friends and loved ones throughout my college years. The baby cows are so sweet and curious. Beware, they may lick you/chew on your clothes. You can also see adult cows here, either roaming in the fields or in the large barn. One of my favorite things to do at Perrydell besides petting the baby cows is to get their ice cream. I have also gotten their milkshakes as well as chocolate milk for my boyfriend, Ryan.

Personally, I do not drink cow milk anymore and I try to get products that use other milk alternatives as their ingredients. However, ice cream made from other milk alternatives can be hard to find, especially on a dairy farm. While I do enjoy seeing and petting the baby cows, I am trying to limit my consumption of beef and beef products to help the environment in any ways that I can.

Overall, I love coming to visit Perrydell Farm and I think it is a great place to come to for all ages. The farm is well maintained and the staff is very friendly. The store has lots of homemade products as well as products produced from the farm. I challenge you to think about what you consume, where your food comes from (country), where you get your food (store), and if you can change anything in your daily routine that could benefit your health and the planet. It could be as simple as drinking less cow milk and trying other milk alternatives such as oat milk. Another change you could make would be to cut eating meat out of your diet one day a week, especially beef.

While you may not realize it, these are all important aspects of traveling. In order to keep traveling, there needs to be places to travel to. With the alarming rise of global warmings, it is important to do our part to keep the planet alive. While I know that big corporations have a much larger role in this than the individual, it is still important to care and do your small part. I try to live by the standard that the decisions I make today, will impact tomorrow.
