Land ho! We arrived at Labadee, Haiti and I was in awe, surrounded by luscious green mountains and blue glass water. We ate our breakfast on the ship while taking in the scenery around us. I had waffles, watermelon, cantaloupe, hard boiled eggs, and grapefruit. After we ate, we left the ship for the first time since boarding, and I felt overwhelmed with gratitude for being in such a beautiful place. During our time on the private island we ate, drank, read, shopped, sunbathed, swam, watched locals perform dances and gymnastics, and watched parasailers and zipliners. The water was nice although it did have a lot of seaweed when we visited. There was an included buffet on the island, and I ate jerk chicken, Caesar salad, watermelon salad (feta, tomato, watermelon), and cantaloupe. The food was very good! I drank the Castaway (Absolut vodka, guava syrup, pineapple juice, and a float of grenadine) without the pineapple juice for $14 and it was tasty, I love guava!
After spending all day on the island, we headed back to the ship where we continued to read and swim in the comfort of the main pool deck. We made sure we stay hydrated with ice cream cones. We went back to the room, showered for dinner, and we were delivered a gift from our travel agent who sent us champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. We felt so special with this surprise! Tonight's theme was White Attire, so we dressed in all white and headed to dinner. I had chilled shrimp cocktail (tender shrimp, horseradish cocktail sauce, fresh lemon), chili-lime crusted salmon (served over a sweet potato, mushroom and kale hash topped with tangy mango and bell pepper salsa), and warm chocolate chip cookie (soft baked and gooey with vanilla ice cream).
After dinner, we went to see the headliner showtime featuring Lou Gazzara, watched the gameshow: Dancing with Stripes, and attended the White Attire Dance Party. We had a fun time at each event, and I think if my next cruise has the Dancing with Stripes gameshow, I am going to sign up to show off my moves.
Overall, we had a wonderful day with beautiful weather, delicious food, and fun activities. I would love to visit Haiti again as it was serene and stunning. Please enjoy my photos of the day below.
