Happy Independence Day India! India is a beautiful and kind country, diverse in every way and growing developmentally. I am so thankful for my experiences and all that I got to see and be a part of. India will forever have a piece of me. I did not know what to expect on this trip but I did not expect to be a changed person. India has changed me for the best and I am forever grateful.
I began my day off with two hard boiled eggs and watermelon for breakfast. After we hiked through the mud to see the coffee plantation. I am not sure if the hike was worth it but it was a new experience. While we were hiking we saw monkeys in the trees. The monkeys would come to the villas and try to take your belongings if you left them outside. They successfully took an umbrella and hiking shoes from two of our group members. The items were eventually found near by and slightly chewed, monkeys are evil. After that hike to the plantation, we took the mini bus to a nearby lake. We were able to walk around and take in the gorgeous views. From the lake, we drove to an area where we hiked to a waterfall. The hike was muddy and steep. It was definitely challenging. After a full morning of adventures, we went back to the villas for a much deserved lunch. We were served a traditional Indian meal (it was basically what we had for dinner yesterday). Post lunch a few of us hung out and watched the movie Tarzan. We only got through half of it before we decided to go swimming. The pool was gorgeous but quite freezing. We did not stay in for long and decided to shower afterwards. We then all went to a last night celebration bonfire. We danced, sang, laughed, and cried around the fire. It was a very beautiful and sad celebration. We watched a slideshow that the team put together for us of pictures from the past two weeks. It was emotional because such a good and fun thing was ending. The team got us a cake to celebrate our survival. Following dessert, we had our last traditional Indian meal. After dinner, I went back to the room to pack up my suitcases. I managed to fit everything in and maintain the weight under the limit. After the stress of packing and organizing my belongings, Gabs and I watched a movie and drank wine. Cheers to a fantastic trip of a lifetime!
