This was another early morning day for me as my flight from San Francisco, California departed at 5:45 AM to land in Ontario, California at 7:10 AM. This meant that I was up at 2:30 AM to leave Heather’s by 3:30 AM to arrive at the SFO Airport just after 4 AM. I flew with the Frontier Airlines and maybe because it was 4 AM but I found their terminal to be confusing. Pro tip, domestic Frontier flights are located under Frontier’s International flights at SFO. After circling the airport twice, using google once, going inside to ask an agent before lugging my bags out of the car, we found the correct drop off and I cried as Heather and I hugged saying our see you laters. I intended to sleep during this flight but instead I found myself reading the entire short flight.
Hannah picked me up from the ONT Airport and I was a mixture of emotions leaving one good friend to see the next. However, Hannah and I didn’t skip a beat and began our road trip to Joshua Tree National Park. Joshua Tree has two distinct desert ecosystems, the Mojave and the Colorado. The land has been sculpted by strong winds and occasional torrents of rain. The park attracts over three million visitors annually. My thoughts on the park were that it had a lot of rocks, A LOT of rocks. Hannah and I spent our time at Joshua Tree climbing rocks, taking pictures, avoiding the shrubs and jumping cacti, and snacking in the car in between stops. We saw more wildlife than I expected including a lizard that gave me a heart attack because its tail resembled a snake, a coyote, a squirrel, too many red ants, and heard lots of birds. After Joshua Tree, we road tripped back to Hannah’s house stopping for groceries at Trader Joe’s on our way. The rest of our day we spent our time hanging out at Hannah’s house and swimming in her pool. We had a wonderful time catching up and laughing until we were in tears which happened several times.
