Harry Potter: The Exhibition

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

September 2022

My sister, Ariana, and I visited Harry Potter: The Exhibition at the Franklin Institute. The exhibition ran from February 16, 2022 - September 18, 2022. This was a touring exhibition that celebrated all things of the Wizarding World. Before you began your tour, you received a card that you uploaded with your wizarding information such as the Hogwarts house you wanted to be placed in. I selected Slytherin and my sister selected Hufflepuff. These cards allowed you to interact with the exhibit through activities such as brewing potions, casting spells, potting Mandrakes, and practicing your Quidditch skills. All of the interactive technology made me feel like I was a student at Hogwarts competing for the House Cup. Aside from the cool interactive technology, we saw original costumes and props. I enjoyed seeing the movie artifacts. There were several photo opportunities as well while walking through small scene setups.

I enjoyed the walkthrough tour a lot! Unfortunately, my sister and I visited on the second to last weekend that the exhibit was running so it was absolutely packed which took away from our enjoyment. I would rate the exhibit as a 7 out of 10 on the day that we went due to crowds. Without the crowds, I would rate the exhibit as an 8.5 out of 10. The downfalls outside of crowds for me was that it was on the smaller size. I have visited the Universal Studios Florida Theme Park several times, so I do tend to have a different perspective on size. The exhibit was good for what it was, and I appreciate that it was different from the other experiences I have had.

I am glad that my sister and I were able to go but I do not think that I would have gone more than once. I think that it is awesome that the exhibit is touring, and I think there is a large audience for it. The touring exhibit provides accessibility to people who may not be able to travel to places like Florida, New York, or London. If you enjoy Harry Potter and the Wizarding World, make sure to check this touring exhibition out!
