Getting into the Disney College Program

Updated: Aug 24, 2020

I applied for Spring 2020 as soon as the applications opened up which I believe was in late summer/early fall. I was accepted into the program on September 17, 2019. Before I got accepted I had to fulfil requirements such as submitting an application, having a web-based interview, and having the phone interview. For the phone interview, I did try to prepare by researching questions that may be asked during the interview. During my interview I was honest, genuine, and tried to answer each question to the best of my ability. I was definitely nervous but my interviewer was very nice and easy to talk with. After the interview, I thought it went well but I was not really sure whether or not I would get into the program. The program does only have about a 20% acceptance rate. Once I got the news that I was accepted into the program, I had seven days to accept the offer and pay the program fee. There was so much going on in my head since I did not plan on actually getting in. I had no idea that this acceptance was going to change my life.

While I found out that I was accepted and my program dates, I had no idea about my work location or role. I did not find out my location and role until January 15, 2020. This is the day I found out I was going to be working in Animal Kingdom in Dinoland U.S.A. doing merchandise! When I found this news out, I honestly did not know what to think. Animal Kingdom was the park that I was least familiar with which had both pros and cons. I was excited to be doing merchandise even though it was not my first role choice. When I found out my role and location, I joined a DCP Spring 2020 Facebook group which lead me to various GroupMe chats. I also found out that I was placed in Vista Way housing, which surprisingly was my first choice.
