Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

August 2021

This was my first time staying at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and I was in awe! My family and I went from a Saturday afternoon to a Wednesday morning. We flew with Southwest Airlines and we were able to check our luggage and go through security in a timely manner. We were supposed to fly out from Philadelphia International Airport at 11:20 AM but we faced slight delays and departed at 11:40 AM. Our flight was decent but at the end it was on the rougher side since we landed into a rain storm. My family and I wore N95 face masks with a surgical mask overtop to keep safe and we frequently used hand sanitizer. We landed around 2:00 PM but the storm did cause delays with our luggage. We did not board the Magical Express until 3:45 PM and we arrived at Coronado Springs around 4:30 PM.

Our room was ready for us when we arrived which was good because we had dinner plans to get to! We stayed in the Cabana section, close to the fourth bus stop. I loved staying in this section because I felt like I had easy access to everything at the resort, not to mention that we had a large strip of sandy shoreline completed with hammocks directly in front of our room. We were just far enough away from the pools and restaurants where we did not hear too much noise but just close enough that it was all only a few minutes walk away. Our room was on the first level which I prefer, especially after a long day out at the parks.

During our trip, my family and I did enjoy one of the resort's three pools, The Dig Site. This pool was Mayan ruins theme, where you could discover the Lost City of Cibola. The centerpiece of this site is the 50-foot pyramid that is connected to a 123-foot-long waterslide. Naturally, I had to test out this slide several of times... to make sure that it was safe for the children, of course. The Dig Site proudly has the largest hot tub on Walt Disney World Resort property and it can fit up 22 people. I made sure to test out the hot tub as well, this time for myself. Overall, my family and I had a fun time cooling down in the pool and relaxing in the hot tub.

This resort offers much more with several of restaurants! During our few days at the resort, I was able to visit Cafe Rix, El Mercado de Coronado, and the Laguna Bar. At Cafe Rix, I got a Wildberry Explosion Smoothie for $7.39 - I did not like it at all, it tasted like cough syrup. I went to El Mercado de Coronado twice, the first time I got Mickey Waffles with fruit compote and sausage for $13.00 and an orange juice. The waffles were just okay, the fruit compote was a thick syrup and it was not working for me. I do not like to eat sausage so I gave my portion to my dad who reluctantly took them since he already had his own serving (he did like them though). My second time at El Mercado de Coronado I had an Egg & Cheese Sandwich for $10.00. I did not enjoy the sandwich. Overall, my family and I were disappointed with the quality of food served at El Mercado de Coronado. Finally, at the Laguna Bar I got tacos. The tacos were really good but also really messy, the corn shells got too soggy and they crumpled apart. Unfortunately, I do not see the tacos listed online anymore so I am unsure if they are still available for purchase at the Laguna Bar.

Overall, my family and I really enjoyed our stay at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. I am glad that we visited this resort with my sister and I being at our current ages because the resort is more mature and less in your face Disney themed. I think that if I was younger I would have not appreciated this resort as much as I do now. I think that Coronado Springs is an affordable luxury, compared to Disney's deluxe prices of course. For your next Disney Vacation, treat yourself and stay at Coronado Springs Resort, you won't regret it!
