Day 1, Part 1: Disney's Animal Kingdom

August 2021

We began our first park day bright and early in Disney's Animal Kingdom. We were so early that we were the third family in our line at rope drop, which was insanely impressive for my family. Once we were allowed into the park we went straight to Avatar Flight of Passage, along with most of the crowd. We were able to finish Flight of Passage before the park even officially opened! This was a great way to get a heads start on our busy day! We followed Flight of Passage with Na'vi River Journey which we walked right onto. This was my family's first time on both of these rides and they were all very impressed and loved the rides!

After those rides I had my family hike over to Africa, so we could go on Kilimanjaro Safaris. Again, we had no wait and loved our ride! Kilimanjaro Safaris is my favorite ride at Animal Kingdom because it is different every time!

Next, we went to Asia where my mother and sister rode Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain. They rode this ride twice since there was no line and they enjoy the thrill a lot.

We then made our way to DINOSAUR in DinoLand U.S.A., where we faced no lines. Afterwards, my sister and I went face to face in the Fossil Fun Games in DinoLand. We played two rounds of my favorite game, Mammoth Marathon. We each one once and received a small prize which I chose the Minnie Dino Institute Plush and my sister chose the Mickey Dino Institute Plush. The prizes were adorable and I am so glad that we played!

Next, we were off to Africa again to see A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King. I have seen this show before and I loved it, however, this time it was slightly modified due to COVID-19. Even with the modifications, it was still a wonderful performance!

Following the show, we took the train to the Conservation Station. At the Conservation Station, my family participated in The Animation Experience where we drew baby Tuk Tuk from Raya and the Last Dragon. The Animation Experience's summer series was based on adorable baby animal characters. My family and I had a lot of fun participating in the 30 minute drawing class. This is an experience that I always try to make a part of my day at Animal Kingdom.

Finally, we were ready for lunch. We chose to eat at Satu'li Canteen in Pandora - The World of Avatar. This was my family's first visit, however, it was not my first visit, I love eating at this quick service restaurant! I ordered the Slow-Roasted Sliced Grilled Beef Bowl (slow-roasted sliced grilled beef marinated in a blend of garlic, herbs, red pepper spice, and red wine vinegar topped with crunchy vegetable slaw and Boba balls served with your choice of base and sauce) for $13.99. My family got variations between both Chopped Wood-Grilled Chicken Bowl (wood-grilled chicken thighs marinated with garlic and olive oil topped with crunchy vegetable slaw and Boba balls served with your choice of base and sauce) for $12.49 and Combination Bowl: Grilled Beef & Chicken (slow-roasted sliced grilled beef marinated in a blend of garlic, herbs, red pepper spice and red wine vinegar, paired with wood-grilled chicken thighs marinated in garlic and olive oil, topped with crunchy vegetable slaw and Boba balls served with your choice of base and sauce) for $16.99. We all really enjoyed our meals! For dessert, we got both Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse (blueberry cream cheese mousse with passion fruit curd) for $5.29 and Chocolate Cake (chocolate cake with a crunchy cookie layer and banana cream topping) for $5.29. The desserts were amazing, my favorite was the Chocolate Cake!

Soon after we ate, my sister and I said goodbye to our parents and we headed back to our resort to change and get ready to spend the second half of our day in Disney's Magic Kingdom. My parents stayed back in Animal Kingdom for a few more hours without us and enjoyed some of the nature trails.
