Day 1 in Massachusetts - The Arrival

Massachusetts

October 2020

A few of my friends that I met during my Disney College Program and I decided to get together for a long weekend. Hannah (from California), Alexa (from New Jersey), and I (from Pennsylvania) decided to go and visit our friend Katie in Woburn, Massachusetts. Hannah had been visiting on the East Coast for a few weeks prior which gave us all the perfect excuse to have a get together. Katie and her family graciously hosted all of us and Katie planned out an amazing fun filled trip for us. I travelled with Alexa by taking the Amtrak Train from Newark, New Jersey to Boston, Massachusetts. We arrived at South Station mid afternoon and we were picked up by Katie and Hannah (who flew up from Maryland). When we arrived at Katie's home we dropped off our luggage and headed out to grab a bite to eat.

We went to Pressed Cafe in Burlington, Massachusetts. Pressed Cafe is a stylish, contemporary cafe that serves coffee, raw juices, smoothies, paninis, and other light meals. There were an overwhelming amount of options to choose from, which I took as a positive aspect. Pressed Cafe was similar to a Panera Bread but it was cheaper in price and higher in quality. I ordered the Cilantro-Lime Chicken Panini (cilantro-lime marinated grilled chicken, monterey jack cheese, salsa and avocado, and pressed on ciabatta) with a side of Pasta Salad for $8.50. I ordered an Arnold Palmer as my beverage. I loved my meal and I would give it a 10/10. I would definitely order it again! Alexa ordered The Medusa (crispy grilled breaded eggplant, spicy feta spread, hummus, avocado, tomato, olive tapenade, and pressed on ciabatta) with a side of Pasta Salad for $10.50. She ordered a Watermelon and Blood Orange Agua Fresca for $6.50 as her beverage. She loved her meal because she loves eggplant and gave it a 10/10. Hannah ordered The Bridge (grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, pesto and balsamic reduction, and pressed on ciabatta) with a side of Pasta Salad for $9.50. She ordered a Green Tea as her beverage and gave it a 2/10. Overall, she enjoyed her meal and gave the meal itself a 10/10. Lastly, Katie ordered the Butternut Squash Soup which is a seasonal soup for $5.00/$6.00 (size depending) and The Atlantic Salad (smoked salmon or chilled herb grilled salmon, cherry tomatoes, English cukes, field greens, baby spinach, cilantro-lime red quinoa, hard boiled egg, goat cheese, chickpeas, and preserved lemon-olive oil dressing) for $14.50. She ordered a Majik Milk (young coconut milk, vanilla almond milk, ashwagandha, E3live blue spirulina, agave, and cinnamon) for $7.95 as her beverage. She loved her meal, said that the soup was delicious, and gave it a 10/10.

Overall, I loved Pressed Cafe and I had a very nice experience during my visit! The service was excellent as well as the meals. I love to eat food that is both nutritious and flavorful! I would recommend Pressed Cafe to anyone and I hope that one day the brand will further expand its locations.

After our fantastic meal, we drove over to Jordan's Furniture in Reading, Massachusetts. I have visited Jordan's Furniture many years ago with my family back when they used to have a trapeze, it now all seems like it was a fevered dream. However, this is very much a real place! Jordan's Furniture is part furniture store and part Beantown. The Beantown attractions include the old Sweet House, Fenway’s Green Monster, Big Dig Ice Cream, BeanStalk Ropes Course, and a Liquid Fireworks Show. The old Sweet House has candied modelled walls, columns, and a golden dome which in total are made up of over 6 million jelly beans. Inside there is a candy shop that sells all types of sweets including jelly beans. Fenway's Green Monster, Wally, is up on the wall and holding a New York Yankee player in his glove. The Big Dig Ice Cream is a 40-foot ice cream sundae made from over 4 million jelly beans and has a Richardson's Ice Cream shop inside. The Liquid Fireworks Show is a stunning fountain show that utilizes water, lights, and a sound display to create eye catching water dances. This location of Jordan's Furniture also has a 500-seat, 8-story Sunbrella IMAX 3D theater and a Fuddruckers which is home to the World’s Greatest Hamburger. I feel very nostalgic about Jordan's Furniture and I think that it it a cool place for everyone to check out. There is lots to do and see at Jordan's Furniture!

After Jordan's we went back to Katie's house. I took a shower when we got back and then Hannah cut my hair. Hannah is a licensed professional and she does an amazing job at giving you what you want. She is very attentive and a perfectionist at all things hair. She also gave Alexa and Katie haircuts as well! Post cut, we headed off to bed, ready for our long weekend to officially begin.
