I am doing a few short posts on my DCP friends and their roles during the program! I hope that these posts will give more insight of the diversity that the Disney College Program offers. Enjoy!
Hannah:
I worked at the Art of Animation Resort in the restaurant on site called Landscape of Flavors. The Art of Animation Resort is at a lower price point than most of the other resorts but it still had a little extra pizazz. We were targeted as a popular “budget friendly” family resort that can cater to all types of budgets. The resort is themed with four Disney/Pixar movies that children love and can live out in their themed rooms, swim through themed pools, and climb on themed playgrounds. The themes do not stop there as the restaurant has dedicated a fourth of the building to live out each movie down to the floor tiles and hidden mickeys.
There were about eighteen different positions I could be assigned to every shift that I worked. I personally loved going into work everyday knowing that I was going to be doing something different than the day before. With this style of work, I learned how to communicate with my coworkers in a very busy environment to ensure that we were doing everything possible to make the guests’ stay better. Since our restaurant was so big and there were so many guests, you would not be in the same position for very long. I found that working in a fast pace position could become exhausting easily, but being able to make magic for guests was the most rewarding aspect of my role. Whether it was working in the bakery and having extra cookies to give out or giving a personalized cupcake and singing happy birthday to a guest for their birthday; it was always so amazing to watch the magic. All in all, I loved the people I was surrounded by and even though sometimes it felt like we were not going to live through the rush, the smiles on the guest's faces really do keep you going and wanting to go the extra mile. I am very appreciative for the opportunity I had to work at Art of Animation and being a part of that team.
