Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
April 2021
My family and I recently visited Casa Del Mofongo located in Downtown Bethlehem. This was my first visit and my family's second. I immediately loved the charm that this restaurant had. Casa Del Mofongo is a Dominican restaurant that serves Latin cuisine from family recipes that have been passed down through multiple generations. All around the atmosphere felt lively and authentic, which I greatly appreciated.
My family started off with empanadas, five beef and one chicken. The cost of each empanada was $2.00. I was the one who ordered the chicken empanada (photographed in the second row, left side) which I greatly enjoyed. I liked the chicken empanada better than the beef. Overall, the empanadas were delish, a little greasy but well worthwhile. My mom liked her beef empanada (photographed in the second row, right side) because it was tasty and hot, however, she liked my chicken one better. My dad liked his beef empanadas and said that they were delicious and mouth watering. My sister liked her beef empanadas but also preferred my chicken one.
For my entrée I got the Lime Chicken Breast for $13.95 (photographed in the third row, middle). It was served with a small side salad, white rice, and beans (photographed in the fourth row, left side). My meal was fantastic! I cannot wait to come back again to Casa Del Mofongo soon! My mom got the Steak Sautéed with Onions for $14.95 (photographed in the third row, left side). It was served with a small side salad and yellow rice with beans (photographed in the fourth row, right side). Her meal made her happy and full. We also ordered a plate of tostones for the table which my mom especially loved for $4.00 (photographed in the fourth row, middle). I enjoyed dipping the tostones in the sauce from my chicken dish. My dad and sister both got the Steak Sautéed with Onions and Peppers for $14.95 each (one of the plates is photographed in the third row, right side). My dad's was served with a small side salad and yellow rice with beans. He enjoyed his meal and cannot wait to come back again! He also wanted to highlight the happy atmosphere, lively music, and good service. My sister's was served with a small side salad and tostones. She thought that her meal was great!
As you can see, we all loved our food and experience! I highly recommend this tucked away gem. At Casa Del Mofongo, you will feel like family while you experience affordable, cultural, and tasteful cuisine.
**A word to the wise**
Arrive early, we arrived around 5:30 PM on a Friday evening and it started to get busy by the time we were eating our food
They are less COVID cautious than I would have preferred, the tables were close to each other and some of the staff wore their masks incorrectly (thankfully not our server)
