Beach Plum Farm

West Cape May, New Jersey

October 2020

My family and I heard about Beach Plum Farm through a couple of friends. Before we decided to go, we did some quick research. We found out that they had lots of chickens that you could feed and lunch available for purchase. After looking through the pictures of the adorable farm, we knew that this would be an aesthetically pleasing visit/lunch. I was most looking forward to trying the fresh farm grown food!

Beach Plum Farm is 62 acres of working farm. The Farm values sustainability and community. Beach Plum Farm produces over 100 types of fruits and vegetables, as well as chickens, eggs, and Berkshire Hogs. The Farm provides produce and meats to local Cape May restaurants. The Farm offers hayrides, pumpkin picking, self-guided tours, chicken feeding, a farm swing, woodland march trail, gift shopping, walking trails, biking trails, picnics, yoga, and dinners. Their market has fresh produce, local products, houseware, and gifts. Lastly, the farm offers wedding packages and overnight stays in cottages!

My expectations were definitely met when we arrived. While driving into the farm, we went down a narrow dirt path which opened up into a beautiful oasis. We had to circle around the property twice to find parking but I am glad that we did not give up hope. As we walked from the parking lot to the entrance of the farm, we saw lots of chickens freely roaming the grounds. We then walked past the main building and along the side of it we stopped at a small white building that sold flowers. My mother bought some flowers and then we made our way to the back of the building to order lunch. My sister and I ordered Pulled Pork Sandwiches (Pickled Jalapeno, BBQ Sauce, and Brioche Bun) and a Side Salad (Arugula, Pumpkin, Pickled Onion, and Citrus Vinaigrette) that were $15.99 each. We both took off the Pickled Jalapenos from the Pulled Pork Sandwiches. I loved my sandwich and I rate it a 10 out of 10! My meal was delicious and I would order it again and again. My sister rated her meal an 8 out of 10 because she is not too big of a fan of pulled pork (I am unsure why she ordered it then but that is besides the point). My mother ordered a Breakfast Sandwich (Over Easy Egg, Cheddar, and Brioche Bun) that was $8.99. She took off the Cheddar from the Breakfast Sandwich. She rated her meal a 9 out of 10 because she liked it and would order it again.

After our scrumptiously fresh meals, we wandered the grounds and took pictures of all the sites. On our way out, we admired the chickens and even took a hike into the forest on one of the dirt trails.

Overall, we had an a wonderful time during our first visit to Beach Plum Farm. The atmosphere was peaceful and easygoing. It was very relaxing and it felt like an escape from reality. I am looking forward to my next visit and I cannot wait to show this hidden gem to my friends and family!
