Cape May, New Jersey
July 2020
A new favorite under the radar spot for me is Cape May Point State Park. I have been to the Cape May Lighthouse several of times as well as the beach but I have never done the nature trail up until a few weeks ago. The trail was exciting and it fully immersed you into nature. The trail we took was a little over two miles long. It was a hot, end of the day, summer weather and yes, I was very sweaty. Bringing water along with you is a must for this trail! However, the views and exercise are worth the sweat. This nature trail is made up of various ponds, coastal dunes, marsh, and forest habitats. In the pond habitat, we came across several swans and turtles. In the coastal dune habitat, we came across several birds and crabs. In the forest habitat, we came across a deer. Throughout the different seasons, various species will migrate through the area. It is a spectacular spot for nature and exercise enthusiasts. This spot has something for everyone, from your youngest family member to your oldest.
