A Ca Mia

Walnutport, Pennsylvania

March 2021

My mother, sister, and I went to A Ca Mia to celebrate my mother's birthday. We were recommended this restaurant by an Italian friend a few years ago and we fell in love! Over the years we have continued to come back time and time again to enjoy the delicious and high quality food that they serve. A Ca Mia translates to "At my House" which is delivered by the cozy and relaxed atmosphere within the restaurant. Inside A Ca Mia, you will be surrounded by soft and earthy tones as well as dark wooded furniture made by local Amish craftsmen. Another unique and homelike feature is their open concept kitchen which highlights Northern Italian cuisine.

A Ca Mia is a byob (bring your own booze) styled restaurant which we preferred because it allowed us to bring something that we known we would like and it is cheaper. Before our meals we were served bread with oil for the table as well as salads. I really love both their bread and salad!

My mom ordered the Old Fashioned Chicken Milanese (chicken lightly breaded sautéed in a butter sage sauce, served over sautéed green beans and red skin potatoes topped with parmigiano reggiano) for $17.99 (pictured in the second row, middle photo). She rated her meal as a 10/10 and said that everything was amazing. My sister ordered the Salmon Scampi (salmon sautéed in a butter garlic white wine lemon sauce with a touch of fresh basil, served with sautéed asparagus, snow peas, mushrooms, broccoli, zucchini, spinach, and baby carrots) for $26.99 (pictured in the second row, right photo). She rated her meal as an 8.5/10 and said that the salmon was the best part of the dish. She also really enjoyed the zucchini and asparagus. However, she said while the sauce added to the dish it was too much. I ordered the Branzino Francais (Italian seabass lightly egg battered, sautéed in lemon butter white wine sauce, served over sautéed fresh vegetables) for $26.99 (pictured in the second row, left photo). I would rate my meal as an 8/10. I enjoyed the seabass and the vegetables but the dish was overpowered by the sauce.

My family and I have never been disappointed by any of the dishes we have been served and I enjoy being able to feel confident that I will enjoy any meal that I order. Typically, I would be nervous to order a meal such as seabass since I am less familiar with it but at A Ca Mia I feel confident to go outside of my comfort zone. The risk was worth the reward and I look forward to continuing to order meals that I would consider to be outside of my comfort zone.

After our main course, we plated up our leftovers and got ready for dessert. A Ca Mia does not disappoint with dessert to say the least. Your server will come to your table with a tray featuring all of the available desserts and then once you make your decision they will come over with a fresh piece of what you ordered. I ordered their carrot cake (pictured last row, right photo) and my mother and sister shared a slice of chocolate cake (pictured last row, left photo). We all enjoyed our desserts and there were none to spare.

Overall, we had a wonderful time out together! We had great meals and service. We felt safe inside the restaurant as they had distanced tables and enforced the use of masks. We booked our reservations a few weeks in advance to make sure that we were guaranteed a spot for my mother's special day. We had no troubles with reservations as our table was ready for us upon arrival. We cannot wait to go back again soon!
